Chelsea loanee Tiemoue Bakayoko has revealed his desire to remain at AC Milan beyond the end of the season, but admits that it’s out of his hands.
Tiemoue Bakayoko appeared to have been a gigantic waste of money last season. Antonio Conte continually had faith in the Frenchman to deliver in the middle of the park, but he was never able to plug the hole which was left by the departed Nemanja Matic.
Bakayoko was poor in possession and lacked positional discipline. The man who had a storming season as AS Monaco beat PSG to Ligue 1 looked a shadow of his former self. He was subsequently shipped out on loan to AC Milan with an option to buy.
Bakayoko has turned things around during his time at the San Siro. He’s turned into an integral player for the Rossoneri and suddenly the chances of them opting to purchase him on a permanent basis have increased. The player’s intentions are clear, he wants to stay.
He’s quoted by the Metro saying:
“I heard what Leonardo said, but I’m not in a position to talk about it. It’s an issue that concerns Milan and Chelsea. Staying at Milan is my dream and the fixed thought in my mind, but I have a contract with Chelsea. Right now I just want to finish the season in the top four. After that we’ll think about it.”
Bakayoko could be exactly what we need in the middle of the park, with Maurizio Sarri’s system also suiting him better to the role that he was playing under Conte. Unfortunately, though, we may never get to see him in a Chelsea shirt again.
