Chelsea fans are still baffled as to why the club are going toe-to-toe with both Manchester clubs in the bid to sign Alexis Sanchez.
United and City are the clear front runners to sign the Chiliean as Chelsea have cooled their interest in the player.
As per The Standard, it’s due to Sanchez’s £400,000 per week wage demands on top of agent fees that are putting the Blues off.
Eden Hazard is the champions’ top earner with £200,000 per week so it’s no wonder the club don’t want to make a move for Sanchez.
The Standard also reports that Antonio Conte would like to sign the Arsenal forward. This doesn’t help the tense relationship between the Italian and the club’s board.
If Conte does want to bring in a wide man in January he’ll have to broaden his search.
Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez and Bayer Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey would come at high transfer fees but would have lower wage demands than Sanchez.
Midway through the transfer window, it really is crunch time for Chelsea and Conte as both parties hope to bolster the squad further.
