Chelsea defender David Luiz is likely to be on his way out of the club as he’s struggled to reclaim his spot back in Antonio Conte’s regular line-up.
Luiz, who was excellent in his first season back at the Blues since joining from PSG, was an integral part of Conte’s team that won the Premier League in the last campaign.
After several fall-outs with the Italian along with injury blows that have affected his chances of getting back into the starting eleven, there appears to be no light at the end of the tunnel for Luiz and his future at Chelsea.
According to the Sun, Napoli may emerge as a pursuer of the Brazilian’s signature if the Serie A side appoint former interim Chelsea boss Rafael Benitez in the summer.
Newcastle manager Benitez has been linked to replace Maurizio Sarri. More interestingly, Sarri has been rumoured to replace Conte at the end of the season as the Sun reports the 59-year-old wants Napoli defender Kalidou Kouliably to join him at Stamford Bridge.
It could be an interesting turn of events for all parties involved but seeing Luiz leave Chelsea so soon into his second spell at the club would be sad for us fans.
