Chelsea are set to break the bank to convince Thibaut Courtois to commit his future to the club, according to the Telegraph.
Thibaut Courtois is one of the best goalkeepers on the planet, few would argue with that. Not often does he make saves for the cameras, a la David De Gea or Jan Oblak, but his positioning and lengthy frame mean that he does not need to overextend himself to deny the opposition scoring.
His distribution has also come on leaps and bounds since his arrival at Stamford Bridge. It’s an aspect of his game that he has clearly worked on, and we have benefited from it greatly. Antonio Conte likes to build from the back, and oftentimes the team moves begin with Courtois.
Losing him is a prospect that nobody wants to entertain, but we need not worry anymore. The Telegraph claim that Chelsea will offer Courtois more than £200K-a-week to try and extend his contract. The report claims that will make him the best-paid goalkeeper on the planet.
