Chelsea are set to appoint an A-list manager high up on the shortlist of potential candidates to take the helm at Stamford Bridge.
In what’s been a topsy-turvy campaign for last season’s Premier League champions, the club want to go in a new direction and are ready to cut their relationship with current head coach Antonio Conte.
As soon as it emerged that there were tensions between the two parties, there’s been one man at the tip of every Blues’ fans tongue in debating about who will replace the under pressure Italian.
None more so than ex-Barcelona boss Luis Enrique, who according to Spanish news outlet Sport, is edging closer to taking the Chelsea job in comparison to rivals Arsenal, who are also looking for a replacement for Arsene Wenger.
The report states that Enrique is more intrigued by plans at SW6 rather than the proposals from the Gunners. Sport also understands that there have been meetings with Roman Abramovich’s associates over joining Chelsea, with contract details needing to be finalised.
The Spaniard is most known for his accolades at Barcelona, where he guided the La Liga side to an unprecedented treble, including the Champions League in 2015.
It makes sense for Chelsea to go in for a man of Enrique’s calibre to take the club back to the top, with the likelihood of us playing Europa League football next season.
