The Chelsea squad are reportedly still expecting Antonio Conte to leave the club this summer, despite the Italian still being in charge long after it was initially thought he would.

Though we didn’t expect Conte to be given his marching orders in the tunnel at Wembley, even if it has happened before, we had hoped that our managerial situation would be sorted by now.

Instead it looks likely that it will drag-on into the World Cup, further delaying much-craved transfer business taking place. It’s all a bit of a mess.

The Daily Mail claim that the belief of the Chelsea players is still that Conte will leave this summer, whether it be by his own accord or the club giving him the boot. However, the uncertainty is threatening to distract them from their World Cup campaign.

The report cites the uncertainty as one reason behind Eden Hazard’s reluctance to sign a new ¬£300K-a-week contract, which should be enough motivation to sort it out at the soonest possible opportunity.

Maurizio Sarri, Laurent Blanc and Luis Enrique are all thought to be candidates to replace Conte, but unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ll probably know that anyway.

We hope that we will have a definitive answer one way or another by the end of this week. If not, our summer will be put at serious risk of collapse.
