Chelsea appear to be prepared to go to great lengths in order to keep hold of Eden Hazard this summer.
According to the Express, the Premier League champions will offer Hazard the opportunity to become the highest earner in the division in order to keep him out of the clutches of Real Madrid.
The Express report that Hazard currently earns £200,000-a-week, which means he isn’t even the best paid player at Chelsea. However, the tabloid believe that a fresh £320,000-a-week deal will be offered to the Belgium international in hope that he will snub a move to the Bernabeu.
To put that figure into perspective, Manchester United star Paul Pogba, according to the Express, earns £290,000-a-week. Hazard’s new contract would surpass the Frenchman by more than 10%.
It’s difficult to put a price on Hazard’s influence, he has now cemented his place among the world elite. If he does commit his future to Chelsea, it’ll be the best bit of business we do this summer.
