After yet another deflating performance from Chelsea, the Blues were denied an advantage in the Carabao Cup tie against Arsenal on Wednesday.

Not long after the match had ended, three Chelsea players took to Instagram but remained positive despite a frustrating game for the team.

Captain on the night Cesar Azpilicueta once again showed his leadership and defensive qualities in nullifying any threat from the Gunners.

The Spaniard has shown his knack of getting assists but couldn’t fashion a converted chance for his side. Sadly for ‘Dave’ and his teammates, it wasn’t an evening to remember.

Azpilicueta’s compatriot Marcos Alonso spent the majority of the game pressing for the opening goal. The wing-back gave away the ball a few times but kept on going and at times, took the attacking initiative himself.

Alonso had a free header go off target and a long-distance strike well saved by Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina. Like his fellow defender, Alonso is determined to put things right in the second leg.

Antonio Rudiger showed his versatility throughout the game, not giving up on lost causes. The German’s performances since joining Chelsea haven’t been as noticeable compared to the likes of Azpilicueta. However, Rudiger is having a stellar first season in England.

Hopefully, the centre-back can be rewarded with more starts by manager Antonio Conte.
