Marcos Alonso is nowhere to be seen at Wembley today – and as per reports, the Spaniard isn’t even injured. He’s finally been dropped!

When the team sheets came out and Alonso wasn’t even among the substitutes, we all assumed that he had been struggling with some kind of injury ahead of the game. He has been a cornerstone in the side under Maurizio Sarri. There’s no chance he’d be dropped.

As the game got underway and Emerson Palmieri locked-horns with Bernardo Silva out on the wing, ESPN reporter Liam Twomey revealed that the Brazilian is not in the side as Alonso is injured, Sarri has actually decided to field him for tactical reasons.

This could prove to be a turning point. Sarri has dropped one of the players who he previously relied upon, instead playing one of the players us fans have been crying out for over the past few months. Now he’s just got to drop Willian…
