Napoli are reportedly finally prepared to allow Maurizio Sarri to become Chelsea manager. The Italian side will negotiate a rather bizarre clause into the deal, though.
Napoli have been playing hardball over Sarri for some time now. Following the expiration of his contractual release clause, Aurelio De Laurentiis appeared to see it as an opportunity to rinse Chelsea for as much cash as possible.
Marina Granovskaia, however, has stood firm. She’s refused to be pressured into over-paying for Sarri. Granovskaia could be set to finally taste success in her efforts to recruit the Italian.
According to Sportitalia, De Laurentiis is concerned about Sarri returning to Napoli to try and poach some of his former players. He’s believed that he is attempting to negotiate a ‘gentlemen’s agreement’ into the deal which will prevent Sarri from doing so.
With reports suggesting that the 59-year-old had placed several of his former stars onto his Chelsea transfer wish-list, we don’t imagine that he’ll be best pleased if Granovskaia agrees to this compromise.
