Chelsea striker Diego Costa has revealed that he has been informed by Antonio Conte to find a new club in the summer transfer window, report the BBC.
Costa was influential in Chelsea winning the Premier League title for a second time last season, but it doesn’t appear to have earned him any sort of respect from the club, or Conte.
The BBC quote Costa, who shockingly reveals:
“I’m a Chelsea player, but they do not want me there, Antonio Conte has told me by message that I do not follow at Chelsea and that’s it. Conte said he did not count on me for next season.”
If Costa is to be believed, Conte has essentially dumped him by text message. The full details as to what has actually happened here remain unclear, but it does not reflect well on the club – which is a shame after such an excellent season.
If we do cash-in on the Spain international, as he suggests we plan to, we will have great difficulty negotiating with any potential suitors, now that they are aware that his manager seemingly wants nothing to do with him.
What a mess.
