Ray Wilkins struggles to see a dressing room with enough characters after Chelsea’s 4-1 defeat against Watford, Sky Sports reports.
The Blues have had a woeful 2018 so far, winning just two out of 10 games this year as the club have put a place in next season’s Champions League at risk.
When speaking to Sky Sports, Wilkins criticised the lack of responsibility shown from the Chelsea squad after the performance on Monday night.
Wilkins is quoted by Sky Sports saying:
“In my own mind, I don’t think the dressing room is strong enough with the characters in there.”
Antonio Conte’s future at Chelsea continuees to be shadowed over a dark cloud. The Italian has been far from the man that led the club to another league title.
Wilkins goes onto say that Conte doesn’t deserve to be sacked at this point in time, as Sky Sports reports.
“I think Antonio has done a fantastic job and I think it would be a mistake if he were to go.”
The saving grace for Conte may be that his team are still in the Champions League and FA Cup. However, the pressure on a place in Europe’s elite competition next season intensifies.
