Frank Lampard has praised Billy Gilmour and confirmed that he won’t be leaving on loan this month, although the door remains “slightly open”.
It follows another impressive midfield cameo from the young Scotsman after Chelsea overcame a tricky Luton side to reach the FA Cup fifth round.
The 19-year-old has only featured in six games across all competitions this season, with two of these coming as brief substitute appearances in the Premier League. (transfermarkt)
Gilmour missed the start of the season as he recovered from a knee injury sustained in July 2020 and will be looking to play more regularly to help achieve his huge potential.
After today’s 3-1 win against Luton, the Chelsea boss described the midfielder as “outstanding” and said it is becoming “very difficult” to ignore him when it comes to team selection.
