Laurent Blanc is not closing in on replacing Antonio Conte as Chelsea manager. Not yet, anyway.
On Tuesday evening, the entirety of Chelsea twitter decided to lock into meltdown mode following the Gazzetta‘s report that the former Paris Saint-Germain manager was closing in on the Stamford Bridge managerial position.
Blanc has been out of work since 2016, with various top club’s advertising vacancies during the period he took off work. None of them opted to make a move for Blanc, who was a free agent. It doesn’t reflect well on his ability to manage at the top level.
Chelsea fans were not happy to hear the news, yet failed to click into the report, which cites ‘Sky Sports in England’. The only issue is – Sky Sports never reported this news, the source doesn’t exist.
Blanc may well take charge later down the line, but don’t lose any sleep over it just yet.
