Chelsea’s sporting leadership promised us that after a disaster season they had seen the errors of their ways, and would aim this summer to add experience and maturity to the dressing room. But their first major move of the summer is to sell Marc Cucurella, a dressing room leader and one of the group’s most experience players.
Former Blues boss Roberto di Matteo has pointed out how important it is that things change at his old club.

“These guys are a little bit vulnerable, and less experienced, which means they don’t know how to handle certain situations,” Di Matteo said.
“I think the club has even acknowledged this, and suggested they might change their strategy next season. For me, that would be the right decision to make this summer. I wouldn’t necessarily say it has to be proven Premier League players who are coming in, but seasoned international players, for sure.”
The first sign that things are actually going to change would be the Blues replacing Cucurella with someone just as experienced.
