Roman Abramovich

Don Balon are at it again. This time the Spanish publication have issued a report about Chelsea’s managerial situation. Is this one based on genuine information, or a product of the creativity of their minds? It’s really hard to tell at this point.

Antonio Conte is widely expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer following a season riddled with failure. Maurizio Sarri has been strongly linked with the managerial position following his exit from Napoli. As of yet, no official announcements have been made.

Barcelona treble-winner Luis Enrique was another linked with the Chelsea managerial position. The speculation has died down in recent weeks, leaving the Spaniard out in the cold after Unai Emery took the reins at the Emirates.

According to Don Balon, Enrique has been told by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich that he will not be becoming the club’s manager as Conte is, against all odds, staying put.

It’s claimed that Abramovich has assessed the finances involved in sacking Conte, and appointing Sarri, and decided to allow the Italian to see out the remaining year of his Chelsea contract.

That would be quite the turnaround. Let’s wait and see.
