There is a lot of talk about what Chelsea will do with Nicolas Jackson next season, but so far few have been willing to stick their neck out.

After showing plenty of promise with the Blues, the striker was loaned out to Bayern Munich last season, pushing through a move himself. He’s now about to return, and nobody is quite sure if he will be happy to stay and play under Xabi Alonso, or whether he will push again for a loan or permanent move.

Well, at least Simon Johnson of the Athletic has been bold enough to call his shot. He predicts in his piece today that Jackson will indeed be back in the squad for the Blues next season.

“Sources” have told Johnson that Enzo Maresca’s departure has changed the calculus for Jackson, who would be more willing to stay and try to be a starter for Xabi Alonso, even without the Champions League on offer.

In other news…

If Jackson does stay, that likely means new arrival Emmanuel Emegha will be gone before he’s even played a minute for Chelsea – not what he thought he was signing up for in September, let’s face it.

Estevao’s hamstring injury came at the worst possible time for him, and he’s now spoken a little about how emotionally devastating it was for him.
