After all the negativity surrounding our 1-0 defeat against West Ham, we have some good news to share.
As per Belgian TV channel VTM, Thibaut Courtois is confident of extending his contract at the club.
Real Madrid has been reportedly interested in the goalkeeper for several seasons but a move has never materialised.
The Mail reports that despite his children living with his ex-girlfriend in the Spanish capital, Courtois believes there is no reason why he can’t stay at Chelsea for the foreseeable future.
The Mail quotes Courtois talking to VTM saying:
“I’m happy here. I don’t see a reason why I wouldn’t sign a new deal. There’s no pressure. I want to have an agreement before the end of season.”
No pressure for Courtois to sign a new deal but the sooner the better
The team are in an unlikely position to retain the Premer League title, being miles off league leaders Manchester City.
However, Chelsea fans hearing good news coming out of the club about Courtois signing a new deal would be music to our ears.
I can somewhat understand the Belgian wanting to wait till the end of the season but this poses a risk of Real Madrid being more inclined to making an offer soon.
