Bruno Fernandes has had a revolutionizing impact on the current Manchester United squad since his arrival from Sporting for €55.00m earlier last season. Fernandes’ presence in the final-third has proven to be deadly against most of the teams he’s played against and Tuchel is well aware of the threat the Portuguese possesses.
Ahead of the significant clash against United, Tuchel spoke of the 26-year-old’s influence, in quotes picked up by Evening Standard –
“The impact he has had since he arrived at Manchester United is indescribable and unbelievable. To come from Portugal, from a competitive team, a big club, but not from the strongest league and stepping in a year to one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League and the strongest league in Europe and to have this kind of impact, I have nothing but the biggest respect for this guy.”
Tuchel went on to call him one of the best midfielders in the world –
“It is outstanding. He is one of the best (attacking) midfielders in the world. He has a huge impact and to have this as a single person in football, you must be absolutely top level because this is almost impossible.”
The gaffer also warned his men to keep their eyes open when he meets them in the pivotal encounter –
“It is a big key to defend against him, to be around him and close to him down. He is a key player of Man United in a way that is outstanding.”
Impressively, he has the most involvement of any player this Premier League season with his involvement in 26 goals for the club – having scored 15 and assisted 11 so far in the league – in only 25 appearances. (transfermarkt)
