Newcastle visit Stamford Bridge on Monday night in an attempt to falter Tuchel’s impressive unbeaten run of form which has seen him win four consecutive matches on the trot, except for his debut stalemate against Wolves.
Ahead of the encounter, Tuchel has provided several important updates on team members. (chelseafc.com)
To begin with, he cleared off any injury doubts on Andreas Christensen’s half-time substitution against Barnsley in the FA Cup – citing it to be nowhere related to a concussion. He said:
“It was not concussion related at all. It was a headache, so we took him off.”
Regarding Thiago Silva, who has been a major topic of discussion since his injury against Tottenham, Tuchel said:
“It’s too soon for sure for Thiago. We are aiming for Southampton and trying hard, so let’s see if we make it but we cannot promise.”

Timo Werner, who missed the FA Cup clash against Barnsley with a dead leg has now recovered and will be in contention for Monday night’s match but his compatriot Kai Havertz is still recovering from an injury he picked in training and will remain sidelined, the Chelsea boss confirmed:
“It’s Friday and we still have three training sessions before the game. It should be absolutely okay for Timo to come back but maybe too close for Kai.
I’m not sure if he’s out [of training] today but he will be missing this match as well.”
