Thiago Silva has been one of Chelsea’s best performers this season, in a campaign tainted by inconsistent performances and on-field issues.
The 36-year-old Brazilian center-back is one of the best in the business. Having come from PSG on a free transfer, he has led Chelsea from the back like a true captain and veteran should.
His contract is set to expire at the end of the current season, on June 30, 2021. Having been reunited with former PSG boss Thomas Tuchel in the dugout, Thiago Silva might see his contract being renewed for a further one year.
According to a report by journalist Fabrizio Romano, Silva and his agents will have a talk with the Chelsea board in the coming weeks regarding his stay at the club.
Thiago Silva and his agents will discuss with Chelsea about his 1 year contract extension in the coming weeks. No rush.
Chelsea board so happy with Thiago, Tuchel thinks he’s a great leader – positive feelings. The final decision will be made together with the player. 🔵 #cfc

This season, Thiago Silva has made a real difference at the back – although the results speak otherwise. He has appeared 21 times this season, scoring two goals and clocking in more than 1,700 minutes across three competitions – the Premier League, EFL Cup and Champions League. (transfermarkt)
