N’Golo Kante makes his first start under Thomas Tuchel against Southampton. As does Kurt Zouma. The German mastermind has been a huge admirer of Frenchman Kante since his days of glory at Leicester City.
In quotes picked by SportsIllustrated the Chelsea boss explained Kante’s selection over Jorginho:
“I have a feeling he will help in any games and any situation and it is a pure pleasure to have the guy in the squad. What we see in training is absolutely fantastic and mentally-wise and quality-wise he is brilliant. Right now we have three strong midfielders with Kovacic, Jorginho and Kante, which I am absolutely happy about.”
Jorginho loses his spot in midfield as the Kovacic-Kante partnership looks to propel the Blues to another victory in the Premier League.
On the trio’s quality and importance, Tuchel added:
“They are the core of our game; the quality, mentality, organising and structure and I want to have a minimum of two of them on the pitch, so today N’Golo is back to start because he is back from injury and it is the moment for him to feel the game again from the first minute and I hope he can show what he shows in training.”
TT hasn’t done anything to prove he deserves to coach chelsea. Same old possession, same defensive blunders from zouma, same toothless werner & Tammy
Controlling games without the scorelines is hopeless.possession without purpose is rubbish. Stop this sarri-ball already
