Now that the Eden Hazard deal is done, Chelsea are reportedly ready to begin talking to Real Madrid again, this time over the Mateo Kovacic deal.
The Croatian has been on loan with us this season, and according to AS in Spain we are now looking to make that a full time deal. €35m is what they say that Real want, and that is a very feasible figure.
He’s a smooth operator in midfield, but his lack of attacking contribution has put a lot of fans off him. Regardless, we can’t pass up the chance to sign him. Why? Because it looks like we’re going to be hit with a transfer ban, so any player who we currently have we must strive to keep – just look at the new deals for Olivier Giroud and David Luiz.
It’s no longer a question of building your ideal team, it’s a question of just making sure we maximise what little resources we have for what could be a long and tough 2019/2020 season.
We have no Eden Hazard and possibly no manager. From here we’d be mad to let anyone go, let alone a consistent first team starter.
