Italian transfer rumour site CalcioMercato is always full of interesting snippets, regardless of their veracity. You can sometimes tell the logic behind a rumour, even if it’s totally invented.
Today, for example, they claim that AC Milan have asked Chelsea for a discount on Tiemoue Bakayoko, but Chelsea have spurned these advanced and in fact stated that unless the full fixed fee in his loan deal is paid, he will return to be part of the first team picture next season.
Who knows if that conversation has really taken place, but it wouldn’t be at all surprising. Chelsea are really in no position to be selling even squad players when they’ve got a transfer ban in place. If they pay what we’ve asked, we can’t stop him going. But at this stage, we’d be better off selling Danny Drinkwater and keeping Baka around.
And that’s really saying something… welcome back Baka?
