Frank Lampard gave his press conferences ahead of tonight’s UEFA Super Cup game last night, and there was some bad news for fans who want to see N’Golo Kante back from his injury woes.
As you can see in this Tweet from the club’s official Twitter account, Lampard discussed the ongoing issue again in the press conference yesterday:
Lampard reports N'Golo Kante picked up a small injury on Sunday and is being assessed. The boss says he will pick his best team tomorrow based on merit, namechecking Mason Mount as somebody who deserves his chance. #SuperCup

The news isn’t great. Sunday showed just how much we need him, and the fact he keeps picking up problems every time he returns to the pitch is really worrying.
That’s about 3 false starts for N’Golo now, and we think it’s almost impossible that he starts tonight.
Even Leicester at the weekend is looking a stretch at this point. But we can’t be taking risks anymore. Even if it means throwing the game tonight, and even if we have to rest him again at Stamford Bridge this weekend, we can’t afford this problem to continue.
Kante has to get back in this team as soon as possible – if that means he has to take two more weeks off, so be it. This is not the game to take risks in, and we think Frank will agree.
