Goal involvements – Chelsea’s best G&A contributors so far this season

Chelsea are currently on a run of 13-games unbeaten in all competitions, which is pretty impressive considering the stuttering start to the season.

The new signings are really starting to click, and Frank Lampard has found a formation that he has gained trust in, and a style of football that is working for the group.

One of the problems from last season besides the obvious leaky defence, was the fact that Chelsea were unable to break down stubborn defences and they lacked that finesse. Lampard mentioned it in a number of interviews after games.

The likes of Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz, and Timo Werner have come in an immediately helped tackle that issue. But you must also give plaudits for Reece James with his dangerous delivers from the right, Ben Chilwell being an attacking threat from the right, and also Tammy Abraham doing a great job up top.

So who has been our best goal contributors in terms of goals and assists across all competitions so far this season?

1st – Timo Werner (12)

No surprise to see who is at the top – new boy Timo Werner is the top goal scorer at the club so far with 8 goals, and he could have got more if he started the season on penalties. He has also got 4 assists giving him a total score of 12 goal contributions.

2nd – Tammy Abraham (10)

Chelsea’s very own academy graduate Tammy Abraham closely follows Werner with 10 goal contributions, 5 goals and 5 assists. He is continuing to surprise many who believed he would fade away this season with the arrival of all the new signings.

3rd – Kai Havertz (7)

Werner’s German international team mate Kai Havertz comes in at third place so far, gaining 7 goal contributions. He has scored an impressive 4 goals from midfield, and he will be looking to get more assists as the season goes on, so far clocking up 3.

4th – Mason Mount, Hakim Ziyech, and Ben Chilwell (5)

Mount, Ziyech, and Chilwell are currently all on 5 goal contributions, which is decent for a midfielder, a left back, and a player who has been injured for a lot of the time. Mount though will be looking to tally those numbers up even more as the season goes on. Chilwell and Ziyech have both scored 2 and assisted 3, Mount has scored 1 and assisted 4.

5th – Jorginho (4)

Chelsea’s penalty taker from the start of the season has popped up with 3 goals and 1 assist.

Honourable mention for both Kurt Zouma, and Callum Hudson-Odoi, who have scored 3 goals each.

These are very good signs so early on in the season, and Chelsea’s goal threat comes from a number of different sources, which is always a great weapon.

They will all be working hard to improve these numbers now and hopefully we have a few more names joining them when we look at this again in the new year.
