Premier league defending champions Chelsea are currently sitting fifth in the league table and nine points behind league leaders Manchester City.

This is after just week eight round of fixtures. A shocking 2-1 defeat in the hand of relegation threatened side, in which the score-line had massive odds at doxxbet, Crystal Palace has casted doubt about the blues defending their title this season.

This has call for panic among fans and reports are suggesting that coach, Antonio Conte’s job is not safe anymore despite winning the league less than twelve months ago. But critically assessing the situation at Chelsea is there a real problem?

Starting from their summer recruiting, I think Conte did a good job in getting Rudiger, Bakayoko and Morata. This is as a result of the way he set up his team to play, his acquisitions fit in perfectly well.

Their three defeats so far in the league can be traced to partly tactical mistake and how the games of football sometimes play out. Conte have to get the stick for their defeat against Man City after Morata hobbled off the field but credit have to be given to City for the great job done on the day.

The other teams ahead of Chelsea are made up of the two Manchester clubs, Tottenham and Watford. Injuries have also not been fair to the club but as the season progresses, and other teams drop points, the gap among the top six will definitely reduce.

Their fixtures also show that they have played three of the five “top six” which mean a run of lighter games are in the mix next.

Conte might not be able to win the league this season but he can definitely make them as competitive as ever and finish in the top three if given the chance and support by club fans and owner.
