Chelsea are in an incredibly busy run at the moment, and Maurizio Sarri’s favourites get little chance for a rest.
While he’s happy to shift around the fringe players, Jorginho has to play in every important game possible for the Italian coach. That has meant little rest for the former Napoli man. Against Slavia Prague tomorrow night, after two games in a week, is surely the best chance he’ll have for a night off.
We think that the weaker opposition means that Mateo Kovacic can deputise capably. He’s not really built for that role, but his skillset suits it, and he’s more than capable of seeing off smaller sides like Prague.
That means Jorginho can be fresher for a crunch time against Liverpool at Anfield at the weekend. Everything is falling into place nicely at this tail end of the season in terms of rotation for this team.
Alongside him we’ll probably see Ross Barkley play in Ruben’s role. N’Golo Kante has an outside shot of playing AGAIN, but if he thinks he can get away with it, we know the coach will try rest him too.
So Slavia could find themselves against a heavily changed team when we emerge from the tunnel tomorrow night.
