With the January transfer window just around the corner, and Chelsea set to be able to sign players again after a year out of the market, it’s no surprise to see rumours starting to heat up again.
One of the notions flying around this week was that we might sign Victor Osimhen of Lille. The tall target man played – and scored – against us in the Champions League group stage back in the Autumn, and it seems he took his chance to impress our watching staff.

Putting to one side questions of whether these rumours have any real basis, it’s definitely a transfer that would make sense for us in many ways.
With Tammy Abraham having such success leading the line this season, we can’t really go shopping for a top tier talent who is going to expect to play all the time. What we need is an alternate to Tammy, someone with the same qualities who can rotate in for him and won’t be bothered by sitting on the bench for at least half of our games.
Osimhen could be that man. He’s not so high profile yet that he will expect to play every week, and as far as we saw in our group game, he’s got a lot about him that lines up with Abraham’s strengths.
True or not, these rumours add up to what could be a sensible move.
