Naturally, this has lead to some hand-wringing among Blues fans, seeing parallels with the Bundesliga Champions’ pursuit of Callum Hudson-Odoi. But these circumstances are pretty different.
As the oracle of all things Chelsea Youth related has said today, these are two young talents, but the reason they were released was that there was no room for them in our own team.
Said with no disrespect to Bright, because he's a fine prospect and has represented two countries at youth level, but he trialled with Leicester, West Ham and Wolves before heading over to Bayern because Chelsea offered scholarships to four other CBs. pic.twitter.com/ctYkyGWLQu

It’s never easy to pick which youngsters to offer new contracts to, and we see time after time in world football that coaches make mistakes with players that young – imagine the Porto coach who let Joao Felix go just 5 years ago only to see him become one of history’s most expensive players this week.
But let’s not let the story be twisted – these are talented young players who we let go and Bayern picked up, they weren’t plucked from us against our will like some are suggesting.
We wish both of them the very best in Germany – and we hope the players we’ve decided to keep do even better. It’s a tough world out there for talented young players, and for the coaches who have to choose which ones to keep and which ones to let go.
