How will Chelsea get into Europe next season?

Chelsea will most definitely have a hard time trying to get into the Champions League next season or even maybe the Europa league- here is how they can secure a spot in Europe:

Many players this season have under-performed and it is a well-known fact that Conte is more than happy to axe players if needed. The Italian will bring his own style to the club, and with many betting sites, such as William Hill, backing the Blues to bounce back and challenge for the title next year, here are the players that Conte should bring in and the players that he should axe in order to push for glory:

Higuaín for Costa

Costa has had a very up and down season and has been rumoured to be in contact with Atletico Madrid – his inconsistency mirrors his unstable mood. Perhaps it would be better for Chelsea to get a player with a consistent goal scoring record. Higuaín has scored at least 19 goals in every season for the past 8 seasons – this is exactly what Chelsea need to power them into the top four again next season.

However, this transfer may be unlikely, why would Higuaín want to move from a top Champions League team in Napoli? An Italian team that, potentially, could (and possibly should!) see him rise to become one of the greatest European footballers in recent history. It could prove difficult to secure his transfer to a team that probably won’t even be in the Europa League!

That said, Conte has crossed paths with Higuain in Serie A so watch this space…

Bonucci for Cahill/Terry

Conte is heavily rumoured to be looking for a long term replacement to John Terry, and with Cahill struggling this season, Conte may want to bring in a reliable Centre Half who can dominate the Premier League. Bonucci is most definitely a contact of Conte and therefore this move definitely has a large chance of happening. The large Centre Half has 55 caps for Italy and the experience to be able to adapt to the fast pace of the Premier league. He is an already proven great defender who would work well with the powerful Kurt Zouma.

Chelsea’s adaptation to the ‘new’ Premier League

Chelsea have massively under-performed this season and will need to adapt to the new teams at the top. Leicester have beaten them this season and so have Bournemouth, Stoke and West Ham. Chelsea will need to be less complacent against these teams who are proving themselves in the Premier League. If Conte does not realise this, then there is a large chance Chelsea will be complacent over and over again and let teams like Leicester and West Ham run away at the top of the table!

The players will have to be more committed to the aim of the new manager Conte. If the players stay focused and stop thinking about potential transfers away from the bridge, then they will be more than able to beat the ‘new top teams’ in the league.

This season we have seen more promising youth players break into the youth team than in past years which means Chelsea can have a bright future if the youth is used in the right way. Conte should let the youth thrive at the bridge- Traore, Rahman, RLC and Kenedy should be allowed to prosper under the new manager, hopefully Conte will not put down the young players straight away and will let them have a chance and let them work hard for us. This could be the key to success next season- hungry, hard-working young players rather than lazy over-paid ones!

Overall Chelsea have bags of talent to get into Europe and hopefully the Champions League- they just need to utilise it otherwise some transfers will need to happen (although it will be hard to lure top players to Stamford Bridge next season because we won’t be in the Champions League). Conte is obviously the right man to get us out of this situation- he is tough and has the connections necessary to get us to be back at the top of Europe – the memories of 2012 live on in all Chelsea fans heads and in a few seasons, who knows we could be back at the top?

The possibility is there, I believe in the coach and the boys, it is just unfortunate that the club find its self in this situation, things will definitely go the right way next season.
