Chelsea earned a well deserved win against Huddersfield Town at the Kirklees Stadium thanks to some standout performances.
Antonio Conte’s team dominated from the start controlling possession before finding a way through as Tiemoue Bakayoko who has come under criticism, broke the deadlock.
Willian took his chance of being selected in the starting 11, heading in from close range just before half-time.
Pedro then put some more gloss on the scoreline with a side foot finish. The home side denied Chelsea a clean sheet after a late rally that saw Thibaut Courtois beaten from a Laurent Depoitre header.
Overall, it was a comfortable performance from the Blues and one that we certainly needed.
The absence of Alvaro Morata didn’t affect the free-flowing trio of Willian, Pedro and Eden Hazard. The Belgian played the false nine role to great effect despite not scoring or assisting in the match. Conte knows that playing Hazard in this position, even without Morata works.
The champions are now level on points with second placed Manchester United who play Bournemouth at home on Wednesday night.
