Chelsea were defeated by Newcastle United 3-0 on the final day of the Premier League season, on what was one of the darkest days in recent memory from a Blues perspective.

We headed into today’s game needing a win. Liverpool defeated Brighton 4-0 in the end anyway, but the players weren’t to know that’d happen ahead of the game. You’d expect them to fight. You’d expect them to give it everything they’ve got. They didn’t.

Goals from Dwight Gayle and a brace from Ayoze Perez were enough to embarrass the former Premier League champions in front of the travelling supporters, most of which had left by the time the final whistle blew.

Antonio Conte had his pants pulled down in front of the 52,000 supporters at St. James’ Park and the millions watching around the world. That may well have been his final Premier League game in charge of this football club, and it epitomised everything that’s gone wrong for him this season.

Chelsea will be playing Europa League football next season, and being brutally honest, we don’t deserve anything more. Here’s our player ratings for today’s sh*t-show.

Courtois 8, Azpilicueta 6, Christensen 4, Cahill 4, Moses 3, Barkley 2, Kante 6, Bakayoko 3, Palmieri 4, Hazard 4, Giroud 4. (Subs: Willian 5, Morata 3, Pedro 5)
