Chelsea were held to a 0-0 draw by West Ham United at the London Stadium as Maurizio Sarri’s men dropped their first points of the Premier League season.
The Blues had won their opening five fixtures in the league, and led the division on goal-difference heading into match-day six. However, it wasn’t to be against the Hammers, we couldn’t find a way through.
Manuel Pellegrini set his side up to contain and counter, and West Ham executed his plan to perfection. Chelsea were sloppy in the final third and had their opportunities limited.
Eden Hazard, despite being well rested, was not at the races. Alvaro Morata came on as a substitute in the second half and missed from six-yards.
Chelsea’s return flight from Greece was delayed and the lack of recovery time played its part. We were lacklustre, and quite frankly, not good enough.
