Antonio Conte appears to have missed out on one of his summer targets.
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Conte was keen on drafting in Atlanta midfielder Franck Kessie this summer, but it looks as though the Ivorian will be moving elsewhere.
Calciomercato report that Chelsea were in talks with Atlanta a few months back, with the view of bringing Kessie to Stamford Bridge – but AC Milan have swooped in to secure his signature.
Calciomercato believe that talks between AC Milan and Atlanta for the exchange of Kessie’s services are close to completion, meaning that Conte will have to look elsewhere in his attempts to strengthen in the middle of the park.
Conte already has N’Golo Kante, Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas at his disposal, but if he, at some stage, opts to switch to a 3-5-2 system – reinforcements in that area will be required.
Kessie will not be that man however, as Calciomercato report, it looks as though he will be playing at the San Siro next term.
