Chelsea could be bracing themselves for a bid from Barcelona next year after the Spanish giants sent their scouts to watch the Premier League champions’ victory over Manchester United.
The win was in many ways a positive for Antonio Conte and his players who had gone through a difficult week after losing miserably to AS Roma last Tuesday.
The Blues had to recover quickly and duly did so impressively with the win over the Red Devils at Stamford Bridge.
One of their star performers, Cezar Azpilicueta may have attracted scouts from Spain to monitor his game against tough Premier League opposition – and he will have passed all the test thrown at him by Jose Mourinho.
According to Sport, Barcelona technical secretary Robert Fernandez and scout Urbano Ortega were present at Stamford Bridge to monitor the Chelsea vice-captain, and they may have been impressed with his contribution.
It was his cross that provided the only goal of the game, after it found Alvaro Morata unmarked in the Man United box, to head home the winner.
If Chelsea do receive a bid though, it’s clear what action the club will take, as Azpilicueta is one of the most important players at the club at the moment.
