Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed Chelsea’s interest in signing midfielder Renato Sanches, reports Sky Italia reporter Fabrizio Romano.

The Telegraph reported early on Friday that the Premier League champions had made a last-ditch attempt to prise Sanches away from the Allianz Arena.

The Blues interest has now been confirmed by Rummenigge. Romano quotes the Bayern chief, who reveals:

“Chelsea are interested too in Renato Sanches. Conte asked abt him after the match. There are 10 clubs on him.”

Sanches enjoyed an incredible break-out campaign in 2015/16 with Benfica, winning the league and cup double in his home country. He followed that up by playing a starring role in Portugal’s European championship triumph.

After winning the ‘Golden Boy’ award, he earned himself a move to Bayern Munich, but failed to establish himself as an important figure in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.

If, as Rummenigge claims, Chelsea are interested in signing Sanches this summer, playing alongside N’Golo Kante and Tiemoue Bakayoko in our midfield could offer him the platform required to relaunch his career.
