Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Bernard, but the Blues’ chances of landing the Brazilian are looking slim.
The 25-year-old was linked with a host of top European clubs prior to his move to Ukraine. It looks as though, five years on, he could be set to finally get his move to the top of the football world.
According to Premium Sport (via the Mirror), AC Milan are leading the race to sign Bernard. However, the Serie A giants are by no means alone in the race to secure his services.
Premium Sport note that Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are all considering making a move to sign him ahead of the summer transfer window.
Bernard’s contract with Shakhtar is due to expire and he has thus far shown little willingness to put pen-to-paper on an extension.
Chelsea have been presented with a rare opportunity to sign a top player without paying a penny. We ought to do whatever it takes to get this deal done ahead of the other interested parties.
