Chelsea are thought to be confident that they have won the battle to keep Eden Hazard out of the grasp of Real Madrid.
Despite Zinedine Zidane’s departure, speculation linking Hazard with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu refused to go away.
In fact, it only intensified after Cristiano Ronaldo departed Madrid and signed for Italian champions Juventus.
Hazard himself flirted with the idea of signing for Real Madrid following Belgium’s exit from the World Cup, but there has been no progression in talks to take him to Spain.
Standard Sport believe that Chelsea are now confident they have succeeded in their efforts to keep hold of the 27-year-old.
It’s claimed that that the Blues believe Real Madrid have abandoned their pursuit of Hazard, which would essentially confirm that he’s staying put.
We certainly hope that’s the case, but it’ll be hard for us to rest easy until we hear from the man himself.
