Here’s a rumour we didn’t expect to wake up to this Sunday morning. AC Milan are thought to be interested in signing Chelsea stalwart Gary Cahill.
Cahill’s time as a Chelsea player has effectively ended following the arrival of Maurizio Sarri. The Italian has fielded David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger, who are both more than capable with the ball at their feet. Cahill is an old-fashioned breed of defender.
Recent reports have claimed that Cahill could leave Chelsea as soon as January, and it doesn’t look as though they’ll be an shortage of potential destinations for the former England international.
Corriere dello Sport claim that AC Milan, who are suffering with an injury crisis at the back, are considering making a move to sign Cahill this winter.
That’d be an interesting option for Cahill, but it’s unclear whether he’d be prepared for such a change of scenery at this advanced stage of his career. We shall see.
