Chelsea have emerged as a shock contender to sign Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, according to The Sun.
Wilshere was once considered one of the most exciting young talents of his generation. THAT performance against Barcelona in the Champions League is often cited as evidence of his class and quality, but he has struggled to replicate that performance level on a regular basis.
However, he proved while on loan with Bournemouth last term that he still possesses some of that star quality, if only a glimmer, that could be captured and nurtured. As per The Sun, Antonio Conte is one man who thinks that he could help Wilshere fulfil his full potential.
The Sun report that Wilshere is entering the final year of his contract at the Emirates, and will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with any future employer in January.
The tabloid note that Chelsea and league leaders Manchester City are thought to be favourites to secure his signature.
