Chelsea are reportedly in the race to sign Braga startlet Trincāo this month, despite the Premier League transfer window now being closed.

Maurizio Sarri is unable to add to his squad with the window closes several weeks ago, but Chelsea are still able to operate in the transfer market, assuming that any acquired players are subsequently loaned out.

According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, that’s Chelsea’s strategy in their pursuit of Trincāo. We’ll have to move fast if we want to sign the Portuguese on the cheap, however.

The report claims that his buyout clause stands at €15M until the end of August. It will then double to €30M. If our interest is genuine, we have to move fast.

If signed, Trincāo would likely never make a competitive appearance for Chelsea, but that’s not to say it’d be a purposeless signing.

In recent seasons, Chelsea have enjoyed plenty of success developing players out on loan and selling them on for profit. It’s a shrewd way of making the club more self-sustainable.
