Chelsea are reportedly in pole position to sign Atletico Madrid centre-back Stefan Savic.
We brought you the news on Wednesday morning that Chelsea and Juventus were poised to go head-to-head in the race to sign the former Manchester City defender.
Savic has improved considerably during his time at both Fiorentina and Atletico Madrid, and may well be set to return to the Premier League a far more well-rounded player than when he departed.
According to Calciomercato, Chelsea have already made advancements in negotiations to sign the Montenegro international. Marina Granovskaia and co are thought to have taken us into pole position.
The report claims that Juventus made enquiries to Atletico over the possibility of signing Savic this summer, but they were informed that Chelsea have already taken steps to secure the services of the 27-year-old.
With doubt over the future of David Luiz at Stamford Bridge, and Gary Cahill’s best days being some way behind him, Savic could be exactly what we need to tighten up at the back.
