Chelsea have reportedly joined the race to sign AS Roma sensation Nicolò Zaniolo. All together now… WHO?
The club have made a habit in recent seasons of acquiring all the best available talent on the market. Some have been developed and integrated into the first-team squad, others have been sold on for profit.
Some may deem it unethical, and Chelsea’s transfer strategy will be changing considerably when FIFA introduce new regulations on the number of players clubs can have out on loan, but for now, it’s a sound way of making cash.
Nicolò Zaniolo could be next on the list of players who sold their soul to join Chelsea’s loan army. Zaniolo, though just 19-years-old, has established himself as an important figure for AS Roma so far this season. His good form has not gone unnoticed.
Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) believe that Maurizio Sarri has added Zaniolo to his shopping list. Sarri knows Serie A better than most and has clearly been impressed with what he has seen from the young Italian.
Whether this is just another rumour fabricated for clicks remains to be seen, but Zaniolo would genuinely be a good signing from a Chelsea perspective, and not just to buff the numbers out on loan. We shall see.
