Chelsea will be in the market for a new centre-back when the January transfer window comes around, according to Standard Sport.

The re-emergence of David Luiz lessened the need for a new centre-back, but that didn’t stop us from pursuing one, per Standard Sport.

Juventus’ Daniele Rugani, who was a player that we reported on continually over the summer, was pursued by Chelsea. The move never materialised, however, with Sarri sticking with the options he already had at his disposal.

You’d think that with Ethan Ampadu and Andreas Christensen crying out for minutes, Chelsea wouldn’t see a need for a new centre-back. Standard Sport understand, though, that a new, and young, defender is on the shopping list.

It would be a bizarre move from the club to say the least. The funds could be better invested elsewhere, like in a new centre-forward, something that our squad is in desperate need of recruiting.
