If Maurizio Sarri is hoping to sign Kalidou Koulibaly this summer, he’s going to have to convince Roman Abramovich to open his chequebook once again.

Abramovich already made a splash in the market to appease Sarri, signing Italy international Jorginho from Napoli.

Jorginho will help ease Sarri’s transition from life at the Stadio San Paolo to Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea still need further reinforcements.

If we want to be competitive once again next term, we need to invest in the squad. There’s no two ways about it.

One player who has been linked is Kalidou Koulibaly. It’d take something special to convince Aurelio De Laurentiis to part with another of his prize assets.

According to the People, £80M is the magic number. That seems like a hefty amount to spend on a necessity, irrespective of his quality.

Daniele Rugani appears to be a much more realistic and affordable target. He too has worked alongside Sarri in the past.
