Chelsea have reportedly set a hefty asking-price for want-away goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
Since the moment he stepped foot in the door at Cobham, Courtois has made it clear in the press that he didn’t see Chelsea as a long-term gig.
He thrived out on-loan with Atletico Madrid, developing into one of the best goalkeepers in the world. His progression forced Chelsea’s hand, we had to bring him back or risk losing him.
Club-legend Petr Cech was sacrificed, with Courtois proving to be a worthy replacement. However, his future at the club is now in serious doubt.
Courtois has one-year remaining on his Chelsea contract, with speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid refusing to go away.
Despite the fact he could walk out the door on a free next summer, Chelsea are not prepared to let him go on the cheap.
According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea will only sell Courtois if an offer comes in which matches their £50M valuation. Good on the club for standing firm!
