Chelsea are reportedly set to approach AS Roma with a hefty offer for goalkeeper Alisson Becker.
This could be the clearest indication yet that Thibaut Courtois will be leaving Chelsea during the current transfer window.
Courtois has just one-year remaining on his contract with the Blues and has thus far shown little willingness to sign an extension.
The Belgian’s family still live in Madrid from his time with Atletico, with Real Madrid thought to be keen on signing him.
Losing Courtois would not be a disaster, if he were adequately replace. That’s a big if, considering the recent shortfalls of our board in the transfer market.
However, Alisson would be a shrewd addition. He’s somewhat of a rarity, a Brazilian goalkeeper who can actually keep the ball out the net.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Chelsea are set to ‘dive in’ with a bid of €70M plus bonuses for Alisson, who is also thought to be a target for Liverpool.
Would you be prepared to see Courtois leave if Alisson replaced him, Blues?
