Chelsea have joined Premier League rivals Liverpool and Tottenham in the race to sign 22-year-old Hoffenheim defender Jeremy Toljan, reports the Express.

Despite already making four signings this summer, Antonio Conte looks keen to add more additions to his title winning squad after the departures of several senior players and, according to the Express, has identified the young Hoffenheim defender as his next target.

Toljan impressed for Germany’s U21s this summer as they won the European Championships in Poland and it appears that his performances have not gone unnoticed by the Blues boss.

The Express report that the Italian manager wants to increase his options at right-back, wishing to provide healthy competition for Chelsea regular Victor Moses.

However, with the Express reporting that Liverpool and Tottenham are rumoured to be interested in signing the 20-year-old, Chelsea face stiff competition in their bid to land the German defender.

As the Express note, after missing out on the signature of Danilo who moved to Manchester City last week, the Chelsea manager will be desperate to ensure that he doesn’t miss out on another target.
