Antonio Conte appears to be keen to strengthen his defence in the summer transfer window.
Chelsea’s back-line has been the foundation of our success this season, with only Tottenham and Manchester United having tighter defences in the Premier League.
When next season gets underway, Conte will have Gary Cahill, Nathan Ake, Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz, Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma at his disposal – but that doesn’t appear to be enough to satisfy the Italian.
According to Calciomercato, Chelsea will rival Man United for the signature of PSG centre-back Marquinhos this summer.
Marquinhos moved to the Parc des Princes in the summer of 2013, for what Calciomercato report to be a £26million fee. He has since developed into one of the best players in his position in Ligue 1, so it comes as no surprise that Chelsea are reportedly keen to draft him in this summer.
However, the Brazilian does not appear to be keen on a move away from Paris. Calciomercato quote Marquinhos, who commits his future to the French champions:
“I feel part of this project but you have to see if the manager and the president want me to stay. I am in no rush because my contract expires in 2019. I am a player of PSG and I am feeling a Parisian. I love this club and I love what they’ve done for me”
